Our City Today

North Miami is at a critical turning point.

Residents see it every day — aging infrastructure, unsafe sidewalks, flooding concerns, and declining services. A government that too often feels disconnected from the people it is supposed to serve. Many voters do not yet realize how serious these issues have become behind the scenes.

“North Miami cannot afford more of the same. This moment requires leadership with experience, courage, and a record of action.”

Dr. Medina has spent decades building that record — in his neighborhood, in City Hall, and in court. He is not new to this fight.

See the Platform

Aging Infrastructure

Unsafe sidewalks, flooding vulnerabilities, deferred maintenance, and inadequate lighting are putting District 2 residents at risk every day.

Financial Mismanagement

Taxpayer dollars are being spent without transparency or accountability. Residents deserve to know how their money is being used.

Disconnected Government

City Hall too often serves political interests rather than the residents of District 2. That must change.

Unchecked Development

Growth without a plan displaces residents and destroys neighborhoods. District 2 needs development that serves the people who live here.

My Story

Dr. Hector Medina is a retired physician with deep roots in North Miami. As co-founder of the city’s Palomar Neighborhood Association, he gained the trust and respect of both residents and city officials. He brought people together around neighborhood improvement projects, raising environmental awareness and civic participation. Dr. Medina’s Medical Career has been one of service. As a young graduate, he worked with the homeless and low-income residents. In 1995, Dr. Medina was living in Oklahoma when a terrorist attack destroyed a federal building in Oklahoma City. As a Disaster Prime Responder volunteer he was immediately on site.

Better together

Dr. Hector Medina also has a extensive experience as a multi-agency administrator. Over the course of his career, he has founded and directed half a dozen community health and family planning clinics in New York and throughout the Midwest. Dr. Hector Medina and his wife, Alina, are the proud parents of three adult children and have two grandchildren, and enjoy their dog Luna. Hector has built communities all his life. We need him working for us as our District 2 Councilman.

Spirit of Collaboration

A record of showing up.

We are better when we work together. Hector Medina has always believed that — and lived it. His community activism is not a campaign talking point; it is a decades-long commitment to North Miami that predates any election.

When businesses violated the law and made the neighborhood uninhabitable, Hector organized residents and fought until the problem was solved. When FIU sought to build a road through a beloved environmental preserve, he wrote to the city and showed up in person. When injustices occurred, he spoke on behalf of his neighbors.

That is the kind of representative District 2 deserves — someone who is already in the room before the cameras arrive.
