An Election Like No Other
North Miami faces a pivotal election amid concerns over financial mismanagement and controversial decisions, including the firing of City Manager Rasha Cameau. Mayoral candidate Héctor Medina advocates for sustainable development, smarter infrastructure, and green space protection.
Toxic Environment
From 2010 to 2016, Hector, his family and neighbors worked tirelessly to close an illegal industrial dry cleaner. The operation emitted constant toxic fumes and noise, significantly impacting residents’ quality of life in the neighborhood.
The Bond
In 2018, we joined forces with fellow residents, going door-to-door to urge voting NO on a $120 million general obligation bond lacking transparency in planned expenses. Passing it would burden homeowners with higher taxes for years, without clear explanations on fund usage.
Injustice
In 2023, Hector and over 120 brave individuals challenged injustice and sued the City of North Miami for extending officials’ terms by moving the election from May 2023 to November 2024. This action resulted in the appointment of an un-elected mayor for 23 months, avoiding a special election within 60 days of the previous mayor leaving office on November 22, 2022.
